A cold and rainy morning made for very muddy conditions in Cassiobury Park. Run over a distance of Approx 5.5 miles, the course leads out to the woods and then the runners complete two laps before heading back to the finish. Well done to Maud who remarkably had also run in the Country to Capital Ultra the previous day. Another great finish from Thomas, who along with Doug maintains a 100% attendance record
this season. One more fixture left which is at Royston on 12th February. The best four results from five count at the end of the series.

Report to follow.

Thomas missing from photo again. Maybe we'll catch him at Royston!

Jo Wood Well what do you know? For someone who prior to joining the club absolutely refused to do hills and mud was an offensive word I feel pretty chuffed to have completed my first 5mile XC race (it also completes my Jontastic target for this week!).
A work in progress most definitely but made all the easier with cheering and support from club members. However I did have a few tears in my eyes when I took my sock off and half my heel came with it 😭. Track night will be a hobble but worth it! Thanks guys

Mike. The morning started with a 50 minute drive from Wanstead Leisure Cemtre along the M25 to misty Hertfordshire and the sleepy little village of Willian, near Letchworth Garden City. Arriving at the race HQ, there were a mass of runners and windsails crammed on to the small green adjacent to the quaint public house 'The Fox' and the old 'All Saints' Church, dating back to Norman times. The runners were still arriving at the congested start area after a five minute walk/jog along narrow tracks, when the pistol fired for the start of the race. The course consisted of two laps (approx five miles) along trails by the side of some fields on the Letchworth Greenway and was flat except for a small incline shortly after the start of the lap. Conditions were perfect with very little breeze or mud and a slight chill in the air. Only the second year to be held at Willian and more a trail race than traditional cross country, this is nevertheless a welcome addition to the Sunday League calendar. With mini choc rolls and tea or coffee on the green and church bells ringing, a very enjoyable morning of racing was completed. Many thanks to Thomas Grimes, Antonio Martin Romero, Paul Marshall and Doug Mansell for their commitment to this club fixture.

Michael Wilson reports:-.A total of 25 East London Runners' lined up at Hog Hill for the start of the first Chingford League fixture, last night. There was a closely contested race between the first two ELR ladies - Ellie Wilkinson and Roisin Archer. The lead changed a couple of times with Ellie just edging it up the final hill to the finish, to the applause of the gallery! In the men's race, Thomas Grimes finished 3rd overall with Patrick Brown next ELR man home. There a lot of good performances but a mention also for 'speedy' Spencer Evans, who smashed his PB for this course and at each lap, milked the adulation from the ELR ladies who stayed behind to support! There were many debuts at Hog Hill yesterday: Amy Amor Boorn, Liz O'Donnell, Chloe Millan, Caroline McGirr, Roisin Archer, Andy Kumar, John Paul Healy, Billy Rayner, Shaun DeSena, Paul Marshall, James Nichols and Graham Peacock. Thanks to Craig Craig Livermore (photos), Frank Brownlie and Diana Diana Rexhepaj's partner John, for their support.
